Dream Lover, directed by Simon Phillips and written by Frank Howson and John-Michael Howson, takes us through the epic life of Bobby Darin who, along with Sandra Dee, represent the zeitgeist of American pop culture as the 50s gave way to the 60s.  The show will be performed with an 18 piece band, featuring classic Bobby Darin tracks like ‘Beyond the Sea’, ‘Splish Splash’, ‘Dream Lover’ and more.

Along with Campbell and Hannah Fredericksen (who will play Sandra Dee), Caroline O’Connor, Bert LaBonte, Martin Crewes and Marney McQueen join the show as members of Darin’s family.

Caroline O’Connor (Anything Goes, Broadway-bound Anastasia), former showgirl Polly, Bobby Darin’s mother (who is revealed to be his grandmother), and ambitious Mary Douvan, Sandra Dee’s mother. Bobby Darin’s real mother, his sister Nina, will be Marney McQueen (Hairspray, Moonshadow). Bert LaBonte (High Society, An Officer and a Gentleman) will play Nina’s partner Charlie and Bobby’s father figure. And in the role of Steve Blauner, Bobby’s close friend and manager, will be Martin Crewes (The Fantasticks, Sweet Charity).

We’ll let you know when more cast is announced!

Dream Lover opens at the Lyric Theatre on 22 September 2016. For tickets and more information visit ticketmaster.com.au
