Calling all writers and composers!

New Musicals Australia is open for submissions from now until 31st May 2011.

Attention all emerging writers and composers: New Musicals Australia can help get your work off the ground! Through a series of development programs, New Musicals Australia takes new scripts and scores and brings them to life in front of experts and general audience members. Acclaimed composer Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden) is the patron of this fabulous new initiative, and with artistic involvement from acclaimed industry professionals such as Kellie Dickerson, Peter Ross, Guy Noble and Peter Casey, successful applicants will have the chance to work with some of the world’s finest creative minds.  The workshops are designed to benefit projects at all different stages of their evolution, ranging from excerpt presentations to staged readings and rehearsed performances. The program’s manager, Benita de Wit said “We had such a positive response to our first workshop season. The musicals were so diverse and we had some of Australia’s finest performers to bring them to life” “Our second submission round is only going to be more exciting. We found there is so much fantastic undiscovered work and an entire community of Australian musical fans just waiting to happen.” Successful applicants will make connections with high-level industry professionals, creative industry leaders and potential collaborators. Visit New Musicals Australia for more information.
