Brand New Family Musical Makes Theatre Accessible for All

Join Alex and his best friend Buddy the Dog at the St Kilda Botanical Gardens this December as they go on a magical adventure around the world meeting all of your favourite fairy tale characters along the way!

This brand new interactive family musical has been written by Emma Austin (The Zooperhero’s Quest) and Anthony Craig (Alice in Wonderland) and features original music by Story Surprise (ABC). Full of singing, dancing, puppetry and lots and lots of laughs, Telling Tales is a whirlwind adventure that is sure to keep the whole family entertained!

Melbourne Shakespeare Company is on a mission to make sure that all families are able to share in the magic of live theatre by offering a ‘pay what you can’ ticketing system. This new ticketing structure means that people can reserve tickets for free and then choose to make a donation to the company if they can afford to do so, removing the prohibitive financial barriers that stop many families being able to enjoy professional live theatre.

As a company our aim is to make high quality engaging, exciting theatre accessible to everyone, explained Artistic Director Jennifer Sarah Dean (Moulin Rouge! The Musical!) Telling Tales will excite and engage families with a brand new story that has been written and developed here in Melbourne but features well known fairy tales and fables from around the world that parents will remember from their own childhoods.

Melbourne Shakespeare Company is proud to be an environmentally responsible company using only recycled, reclaimed, and reused materials to bring their productions to life. Families will be amazed by how they create dazzling costumes and beautiful sets in a sustainable way with their clever, conscious designs.

Pack your dancing shoes and bring a picnic to enjoy in the sunshine. Seating is not provided at the venue so please bring picnic blankets and chairs to sit on and protective sun wear is highly recommended.

Tickets are on sale now from melbourneshakespeare.com.
