Open air Shakespeare comes to Brisbane
One of Shakespeare’s most treasured comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be performed by Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble (QSE) at the magic, open air setting of the Roma Street Parklands amphitheatre from August 21 to September 7, 2013.
Director Robert Pensalfini has promised to surprise audiences with his interpretation of the play by exploring overlooked themes within the text.
“Not much is ever made of the impact that the discord in the faerie kingdom has on the human world.” Dr Pensalfini shares, “I wanted to play with the idea of the wheels coming off the human world.”
Live music, written and performed by the ensemble will accompany the evening as messy love triangles, feisty faeries and oblivious fools take over the Parklands and the Ensemble use their skills to connect Shakespeare and contemporary audiences.
Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream will play from 21 August to 7 September.
