Australia’s Bodyguard has been revealed!

Acclaimed dancer and actor Kip Gamblin will join the cast of The Bodyguard musical in the title role, it was announced today.

Producers Michael Harrison, David Ian and John Frost confirmed that Gamblin will take on the role of Frank Farmer in the Australian tour of The Bodyguard, which commences at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre in April.

Although this is Gamblin’s first musical theatre role, he is no stranger to the stage, having performed principal dance roles with the Australian Ballet, Western Australian Ballet, Sydney Dance Company and Royal Opera Covent Garden.

Gamblin is well known to Australian audiences for his roles in a range of TV dramas including Dance Academy, Home and Away, All Saints, Tricky Business and most recently, Neighbours. He is also known internationally his performances in the BBC London’s drama series Casualty where he spent two years working as a series regular.

Previously announced star cast for the production include Paulini and Prinnie Stevens, playing sisters Rachel Marron and Nicki Marron. The full cast is yet to be confirmed.

“When he revealed very strong chemistry with Paulini during auditions, we knew we had found our ideal Bodyguard.”

Based on the smash-hit Warner Bros 1992 film starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner, The Bodyguard has played in London’s West End and is also enjoying tours in Germany, South Korea, and the USA as well as a season in Toronto, Canada. Australian producer John Frost was also a co-producer of the production on the West End.

The Australian tour will play Sydney Lyric Theatre from 21 April, the Lyric Theatre, QPAC, Brisbane from 19 July and the Regent Theatre, Melbourne from August.
