Atkins, Flowers and Fox to do the Hot Shoe Shuffle

David Atkins, Bobby Fox and Jaz Flowers have been confirmed as cast members in the 2013 revival of Hot Shoe Shuffle. 

It was announced today that the Australian revival tour of Dein Perry and David Atkins' Hot Shoe Shuffle will officially commence at QPAC, Brisbane on May 4, 2013 starring Bobby Fox, Jaz Flowers and David Atkins. The show will also tour to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

Featuring the big band hits of the 1940s, Hot Shoe Shuffle is a multi-award winning production and has played sell out seasons in London, Australian and a UK tour.

“It’s been almost twenty years since Hot Shoe Shuffle first wowed audiences around the world.” said David Atkins.

“If you’ve seen the show you’ll need no convincing to see it again, It’s song and dance at its very best and most exciting. With hits of the Big Band Era and the hottest tapping you’ll ever see with a brilliant Australian cast.”

e in 15 years to play the role of Dexter in the production. Irish born performer Bobby Fox (Jersey Boys) will take on the role of Spring, the oldest of seven tap brothers (originally performed by Atkins himself).

“I am ecstatic and honoured to be given the opportunity to play the role of “Spring” in Hot Shoe Shuffle,” said Fox, who has recently appeared on the hit show House Husbands for the Nine Network.

“This show combines everything I've learnt throughout my training and performing career. It will be such a full circle moment for me. I simply cannot wait to hit the rehearsal room floor.”

Helpmann Award nominated leading lady Jaz Flowers will step into the role of April, originated by Rhonda Burchmore.

“I find myself randomly smiling all the time. A dream come true is an understatement. Being a leading lady is one thing but being a leading lady of Hot Shoe Shuffle is in a whole other league. It was the first show I ever saw, it's my favourite musical, and to be working with David who was in the original cast is a joke! Not coping, I'm ecstatic!” she exclaimed.

Hot Shoe Shuffle tells the tale of the seven Tap Brothers, Spring, Slap, Buck, Wing, Tip, Tap and Slide who must perform a show with their sister April (sporting two left feet) in order to inherit their late father's fortune.

Tickets for the Brisbane season will be on sale from Monday 26 November.
