Arts Centre Melbourne’s Big Night In wraps up digital season with much loved songs and previously unseen bloopers

A special edition of Arts Centre Melbourne’s Big Night In with John Foreman will complete its much-loved digital season with an episode featuring a playlist of all the favourite Aussie Pops Orchestra performances and the most hilarious bloopers and gags of the series.

Arts Centre Melbourne’s Big Night in has employed 109 artists including the 54 members of the Australian Pops Orchestra for the series. The season has achieved more than  63,815 views (8,009 hours watched) in its 10 episodes plus more than 450,183 views of the 10 Aussie Pops Orchestra finale songs on Facebook. 

The initiative has also supported The Arts Wellbeing Collective ,  an Arts Centre Melbourne initiative that comprises a consortium of arts and cultural organisations working together to promote positive mental health and wellbeing in the performing arts.

Episode 11 will include a playlist of the spectacular musical finales, where a headline performer is accompanied by the wonderful Aussie Pops Orchestra. Highlights have included Casey Donovan performing ‘Over the Rainbow’, Liorperforming ‘Mad World’, Ricki-Lee performing ‘What the World Needs Now is Love’, Marina Prior, Aled Jones, Mirusia, Josh Piterman, and Meghan Picerno performing ‘You Raise Me Up’ and Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows performing ‘Hold Onto Me’.

Past guests who have joined John Foreman include Meow Meow, Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows, Lior, Hugh Sheridan, Gorgi Coghlan, David Campbell, Jemma Rix, Mirusia, Human Nature, Christie Whelan Brown, Rohan Browne, Courtney Act, Lucy Durack, Tania Doko, Ben Gerrard and the cast of American Psycho: The Musical, Casey Donovan, Rhonda Burchmore, Bert and Patti Newton, Vika and Linda Bull, Aled Jones, Sam Mac, Josh Piterman and Meghan Picerno.

The Big Night In was developed as part of Arts Centre Melbourne’s digital hub Together with You, in response to the temporary closure of Arts Centre Melbourne’s venues due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The season was originally slated to be six episodes, but was extended by five episodes due to popular demand.

Arts Centre Melbourne has postponed welcoming visitors back to its venues, in accordance with the most recent Victorian Government guidelines on coronavirus (COVID-19). The ghost lights will stay on a little longer to energise and illuminate the stages while performers and the Victorian public can’t be there, in keeping with the long-standing theatre tradition of lighting up unoccupied stages. Arts Centre Melbourne will continue to provide audiences with access to the best of the performing arts through Together With You.
