Another show for the Theatre Royal: Every Single Saturday

It was announced today that the new Australian musical Every Single Saturday will play a limited season at Sydney’s Theatre Royal in March next year following its previously announced premiere season at Glen Street Theatre.

Following the Theatre Royal it will play Gosford’s Laycock Street Theatre and Riverside Theatres, Parramatta for short seasons before heading interstate.

Starring Maria de Marco, Christopher Horsey, Scott Irwin and Katrina Retallick, Every Single Saturday is an hilarious and moving musical about four parents whose only common ground is the football field where their kids play on Saturdays.

Featuring more than sixteen original songs by writer and composer Joanna Weinberg (12 Shoes, The Unbearable Lightness of Fleeing, Piano Diaries and the soon to be released musical film Goddess), dynamic dancing, plenty of laughs and a few tears, this heart-warming and romantic new Australian musical comedy celebrates the pain and the passion – the oranges and the lemons – of being a parent on the sidelines. It explores the ambitions and dreams every parent holds for their child and what happens when those dreams go unfulfilled.

Led by Director Lisa Freshwater and a talented creative team – Brad Miller (Musical Director), Josef Brown (Choreographer), Justin Nardella (Set and Costume Designer), Martin Kinnane (Lighting Designer), Nate Edmondson (Sound Designer) and Les Currie (Producer) – Every Single Saturday has come a long way from a ten minute piece three years ago, and the smaller production at NIDA in 2010.

Every Single Saturday will play the Theatre Royal from February 29 for a limited season.

Tickets for the Theatre Royal season go on sale this Saturday 17 December.
