After 20 years, Cameron Daddo returns to Melbourne stage

Melbourne will welcome home local lad in major musical production.

Born and bred in Melbourne, actor Cameron Daddo made his mark on Australian musical theatre in Gordon Frost Organisation’s production of Big River 22 years ago.

AussieTheatre can today confirm that the LA based Logie Award winner will tour with the Legally Blonde company to Brisbane and Melbourne, despite initial speculation that he would only be committing to the Sydney season.

Starring alongside Lucy Durack, Rob Mills, David Harris and Erika Heynatz, Daddo has been enjoying his time in Australia’s smash hit musical and will be bringing his wife (Alison Brahe) and three children to Melbourne when the show transfers to the Princess Theatre from 9 May this year for the entire Melbourne run of the show.

“I am really looking forward to coming back to my home town to take to the stage again in Melbourne for the first time in 20 years”, Daddo said.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for me to show my family my old stomping ground.”

Playing the role of Harvard Law School’s Professor Callaghan, Daddo has praised the work of his co-stars (“uber talented fellow Australian actors”) and is certain Melbourne audiences will love the high energy musical.

“During the Sydney season, I was delighted seeing all the happy faces coming out of the theatre after the show. My kids, nieces, nephews and assorted relatives loved the show! And even some of my harshest critics – my Melbourne school mates – were bowled over by it.” he said.

“I honestly believe that audiences are in for a real treat.”

Legally Blonde heads to Melbourne at The Princess’ Theatre from May 9 after a season at QPAC in Brisbane from March 12.
