The opening night performance of Hairspray has been moved to a later time as schedules all over Melbourne are interupted because of the AFL Grand Final replay.
Last Saturday’s Grand Final – perhaps the biggest sporting event on the Australian calendar – ended in an unlikely draw between St Kilda and Collingwood.
Because the AFL does not have extra time, the game is to be re-played on Saturday. Hairspray is due to open on Saturday night.
With such a major event happening mid-afternoon, Hairspray producers made the decision to move the show to an 8pm timeslot after originally scheduling an earlier start time.
Hairspray is playing at the Princess Theatre.
