Adelaide Fringe opens 2027 artist registrations with lower fees and growing touring pipeline

Artists from South Australia, across the country and around the world are being invited to register their events for the 2027 Adelaide Fringe, with registrations opening on 8 September.

Take your place in next season’s program alongside some of the world’s greatest musicians, cabaret artists, comedians and entertainers, following a blockbuster 2026 line-up that featured Japan’s spectacular Sumo show, The Shamrocks and Dave Gleeson.

 

 

Adelaide Fringe is open access, meaning artists do not need to be programmed or invited to take part. From first-time performers and new work to established productions looking for bigger audiences and touring opportunities, artists working across every artform can register an event and build their own Fringe season.

In 2026, Adelaide Fringe brought together 8,044 participants across 1,684 registered events and 562 venues, including 733 South Australian, 585 interstate and 366 international events. Of those 1,684 events, 1,050 were premieres. The program reflected a broad mix of artists and communities, with 32 per cent LGBTQIA+ representation, 41 per cent female representation, 24 per cent culturally diverse representation and 13 per cent disability representation, alongside 113 First Nations creatives and 36 First Nations-led shows.

You do not need to wait for an invitation to take part in Adelaide Fringe. Open access means artists decide what they present, where they present it and how they build their season, whether it is their first show or their fiftieth.

This is not just a place where careers start. Some of the biggest names in the world choose to perform at Adelaide Fringe alongside artists picking up a microphone for the very first time. That mix is what makes Adelaide Fringe Australia’s biggest arts festival. We want artists from South Australia, interstate and overseas to see what is possible in 2027.

Artists will also keep more of their box office from 2027, with Adelaide Fringe reducing its Inside Charge from 5 per cent to 4 per cent and locking in the lower rate for four years. Based on the 2026 box office, the reduction is expected to return more than $250,000 to artists annually and more than $1 million over four years. The initiative is supported by CreateSA and the Government of South Australia.

Registering an event gives artists access to Adelaide Fringe support throughout the season, including marketing guidance, ticketing and customer service, accessibility booking support, promotional opportunities and hundreds of resources through the Artist and Venue Registration platform. Artists can also opt in to the Schools Program and Honey Pot free of charge.

 

 

Honey Pot can take an Adelaide Fringe season far beyond Adelaide, putting artists and their work in front of influential programmers, curators and buyers from across Australia and around the world. In 2026 alone, those connections generated more than $7 million across more than 450 touring deals and presentation opportunities.

For artists joining the 2027 program, one Adelaide season could become the launchpad for where their work travels next, supported by a newly redesigned Honey Pot website built to make those industry connections even stronger.

Artists who fully register their event by 30 October 2026 will be eligible for inclusion in the printed Official Adelaide Fringe Guide. Events can continue to be registered after the print deadline and will still be listed across Adelaide Fringe’s digital platforms.

Registrations will be managed through AVR, Adelaide Fringe’s Artist and Venue Registration platform, now with a fresh new look and improved functionality to make registering and managing events easier.
