The Adelaide Festival Centre is reviving the big band swing of the 1940s this year for the Christmas Proms at Her Majesty’s Theatre.

From 13 – 16 December Johanna Allen, Andy Seymour and Timothy Sexton’s Adelaide Art Orchestra will play all the classic Christmas carols we know and love with a jazzed up, big band style flavour.

Local musical theatre performer Johanna Allen returns once again to Adelaide after her sold out performances at the Cabaret Festival earlier this year. Allen has also enjoyed success on a national and international stage with productions including The Threepenny Opera, Wicked, Dr. Zhivago, The Pirates of Penzance and Guys and Dolls.

Singer and entertainer Andy Seymour, who has previously won acclaim for his work in Art of Croon, The Gospel According to Elvis, The Big Bopper and Buddy & The Bopper as well as his appearance in April backing Little Pattie at the 2012 Rock ‘n Roll Rendezvous. Seymour has also hosted his own TV show in the US, performing as a singing chef as well as appearing on ABC TV children’s shows in a variety of guises.

The Adelaide Art Orchestra will provide the live music for the events. Having enjoyed recent gigs at the Cabaret Festival accompanying Broadway legends Lea Salonga and Ben Vereen, the Orchestra has maintained a reputation for vibrant live performances over the past decade.
In keeping with the spirit of the festive season Santa Claus and a couple of clowns – Moose and Boppa – will be making a special appearance for the kids.
