Adam is back (to crack) with Housewine for Mardi Gras, 2012

Sadly, the world lost an incredible talent last year with the sudden passing of 27 year old singer/songwriter, Amy Winehouse. Luckily, we still have Amy Housewine!

She sang the same songs, did the same drugs, washed them down with the same house wine – and yet she keeps bouncing back like Silly Putty – you just can’t knock her down. They tried to make her go to rehab, and Housewine said, “I’ll drive us!”

On February 16 and 27 for two shows only, Amy Housewine is heading to Sydney as part of the Mardi Gras Festival and she’d love for you to join her!

Australian actress and singer Lisa Adam (pictured, as Housewine) had been performing her one woman show Amy Housewine – Back To Crack to critical acclaim when Winehouse, the troubled British singer on whose infamous life Adam’ show was endearingly parodied – died last year.

“I had just finished a sell-out season in Adelaide and was booked for a season at the Sydney Fringe Festival when Amy Winehouse suddenly passed away” Lisa Adam told AussieTheatre.com.

“Being a huge fan of the songstress, I was personally very saddened by her death, and withdrew my show from the Fringe Festival.”

Thankfully, Sydney audiences at last have the chance to see the show – albeit with some modifications – this February at the Supper Club, Darlinghurst.

Amy Housewine – Back To Crack is the story of the ‘other’ Amy – Amy HOUSEWINE. It takes you on an hilarious journey through the highs and lows (and highs) of her colourful life. Co-Written by Trevor Ashley (Liza on an E) and Phil Scott (The Wharf Revue) and Lisa Adam (Jersey Boys), the show enjoyed sell-out audiences at both the Brisbane and Adelaide cabaret festivals last year, and has now been revamped for Sydney.

“With the help of writer Phil Scott, we revamped the show with more of a focus on the differences between Amy Winehouse and Amy HOUSEWINE. They’re 2 very different people – one was a brilliantly talented singer/songwriter whose life was tragically cut short from drugs and alcohol; the “other” Amy is a complete train-wreck that, no matter how hard she tries, cannot be derailed!”, said Adam.

Whilst raucous and irreverent, Back To Crack it is also moving, exploring the hopelessness of addiction, in the hope of giving the audience an insight into this terrible disease. Superbly structured, the show is a perfect mix of hilarity, bad taste and poignancy.

“I was reluctant to bring Housewine back, despite numerous requests for her return” Adam said. “Then I was booked to perform Housewine at the Adelaide Casino during October, and she was extremely well received, so I thought, ‘Maybe it’s time’!”

So this February 16 and 27, join Helpmann and Green Room Award nominee Lisa Adam as she dishes the dirt on Housewine’s life as a singer, poet and professional crack-whore.

Featuring classic songs such as “If I Only Had Cocaine”, “Valium”, I’d Love To Have A Beer With Amy” and the iconic “Rehab”, Amy Housewine will leave you in stitches.

And as for the rest of the country – Adam assures us Housewine will be back.

“I’ve no firm plans as yet, but I’m sure it won’t be the last you see of Amy HOUSEWINE!”
