Adam Garcia among hosts of 16th annual Helpmann Awards

Live Performance Australia have confirmed the lineup of hosts for the 2016 Helpmann Award ceremony, scheduled to take place at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre on Monday 25 July on the set of Singin’ In The Rain.

Singin’ in the Rain star Adam Garcia will co-host the Helpmann Awards in 2016.

The show’s star – Adam Garcia – along with theatrical luminaries Helen Dallimore, Guy Noble, Simon Philips, Queenie van de Zandt, and The Umbilical Brothers will share hosting duties for the event, which celebrates excellence in Australia’s live performance industry across sectors including musical theatre, contemporary music, comedy, opera, classical music, theatre, dance and physical theatre, children’s presentations, regional touring, and cabaret.

Also announced today was a preliminary performance lineup, which is set to include performances by the casts of Matilda the Musical, The Sound of Music, and Singin’ in the Rain, with individual performances by Marina Prior & Mark Vincent, and Sarah Blasko, together with Bangarra Dance Theatre and The West Australian Ballet as well as the winner of the Sydney International Piano Competition.

The full program for the 16th annual Helpmann Awards, including award category nominees, will be announced in June.

Tickets for the event will be on sale via ticketmaster from May 2 at 9am and if sales are anything like last year, will be running out the door.
