UK Tour Announced for New Production of Dear Evan Hansen

A new production of the critically acclaimed musical ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ is set to embark on a nationwide tour. This fresh take on the beloved show, which has captivated audiences since its debut in 2015, will open at the Nottingham Playhouse on 9 September 2024, marking the beginning of an extensive UK tour.

The musical, renowned for its touching narrative and memorable score by the acclaimed duo Pasek and Paul, follows the life of teenager Evan Hansen as he navigates the complexities of adolescence and the consequences of a fabricated friendship with a deceased classmate. The book, penned by Steven Levenson, has been lauded for its poignant exploration of contemporary themes.

This new production is a collaborative effort between the Ambassador Theatre Group Productions and Nottingham Playhouse. It will be helmed by Adam Penford, the artistic director of Nottingham Playhouse.

The original London production of ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ received a five-star review from WhatsOnStage, with Sam Tutty’s award-winning performance receiving particular acclaim. The upcoming tour promises to bring the same level of excellence and emotional depth to audiences across the nation.

Following its opening in Nottingham, the tour will include stops at Curve Leicester, Brighton Theatre Royal, Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham, New Victoria in Woking, and many other prestigious venues across the country, extending into the new year with performances scheduled in Northampton Derngate, Mayflower Southampton, Milton Keynes Theatre, and several other locations.

Casting details for this new production are yet to be announced, but the search for the lead role is expected to begin shortly. With its compelling storyline and memorable music, this new rendition of ‘Dear Evan Hansen’ is poised to be a highlight of the UK theatre calendar, offering a fresh perspective on a story that has resonated with audiences worldwide.
