Trisha Paytas Joins Broadway’s Beetlejuice as Maxine Dean
Broadway is about to get even more unpredictable. Internet personality and YouTube star Trisha Paytas is joining the cast of Beetlejuice: The Musical at the Palace Theatre in New York, taking on the role of Maxine Dean from November 4 through November 23, 2025.
Paytas, who has built a digital empire with more than 20 million followers and 2 billion YouTube views, is no stranger to live performance. Earlier this year, she made her Broadway debut with Trisha Paytas’ Big Broadway Dream, a one-night benefit concert featuring Broadway heavyweights Sutton Foster, Ben Platt, Joy Woods, and Rachel Zegler. Known for her larger-than-life persona, Paytas’ move into a mainstage role marks her most high-profile theatrical appearance to date.
Beetlejuice’s limited 13-week Broadway return began October 8, starring Justin Collette as the mischievous ghost himself and Isabella Esler as Lydia. The production also features Megan McGinnis, Will Burton, Jesse Sharp, Jenni Barber, Madison Mosley, and Patrick Oliver Jones. Sharone Sayegh, who originated the dual roles of Maxine Dean and Juno for this engagement, will continue as Juno during Paytas’ run and resume both parts after November 25.
The Tony-nominated musical, based on Tim Burton’s 1988 cult classic film, is directed by Alex Timbers with music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect and a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King. The creative team includes choreography by Connor Gallagher, scenic design by David Korins, costumes by William Ivey Long, lighting by Kenneth Posner, and sound by Peter Hylenski.
Originally opening on Broadway in 2019, Beetlejuice became a fan favorite for its irreverent humor, gothic charm, and breakout viral popularity. This revival—running through January 3, 2026—marks the show’s return to the Palace Theatre, where it continues to blend dark comedy, dazzling visuals, and a die-hard fan following.
With Trisha Paytas stepping into the world of the Netherworld, audiences can expect a performance that’s anything but ordinary.
