Tom Felton, best known for portraying Draco Malfoy in the iconic Harry Potter films, is stepping back into the wizarding robes—this time on Broadway. Felton has confirmed he will reprise his famous role later this year in the critically acclaimed stage play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, marking his Broadway debut and making him the first original film cast member to join the play.

Felton’s highly anticipated run is scheduled to begin this November and will continue for 19 weeks. The actor last portrayed Draco Malfoy 16 years ago in the cinematic conclusion, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, and now revisits the character as an adult and a father, exploring uncharted emotional depths in an entirely new narrative.

The play, penned by playwright Jack Thorne from an original story co-developed with J.K. Rowling and John Tiffany, picks up 19 years after the events of the final book. It centres around Albus Severus Potter, Harry’s youngest son, who struggles with his father’s towering legacy after being sorted into Slytherin. The story delves deeply into themes of family, friendship, and acceptance, spotlighting the unlikely bond between Albus and Scorpius Malfoy, Draco’s son.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been a global theatrical phenomenon since its 2016 debut on London’s West End. The Broadway production, opening in 2018, was an immediate critical success, winning six Tony Awards including Best Play. The show has become Broadway’s highest-grossing non-musical play, setting a Guinness World Record in 2024 with over $270 million in ticket sales and welcoming over 2.5 million audience members to date.

Felton’s return as Draco Malfoy is expected to invigorate both long-time fans and newcomers, offering audiences a fresh yet nostalgic connection to one of literature’s most enduring fictional worlds.
