The Phantom of the Opera is a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber based on the novel of the same name by Gaston Leroux. The story is set in the Paris Opera House in the late 19th century and follows the life of a mysterious, disfigured musical genius known only as “The Phantom,” who dwells in the catacombs beneath the Opera House and becomes obsessed with a young soprano named Christine. The musical first opened in London in 1986 and has since become one of the most successful and longest-running musicals in history, with productions all over the world. The Phantom of the Opera is known for its elaborate sets, haunting music, and spectacular special effects, as well as its portrayal of a complex, romantic relationship between The Phantom and Christine.
