The Devil Wears Prada musical unveils ‘Miranda Girl’ single, cast album set for 19 September
The West End hit The Devil Wears Prada: A New Musical has released the single ‘Miranda Girl’ ahead of the original cast recording, arriving 19 September on CD, digital and LP via Island EMI. The track, performed by Georgie Buckland who plays Andy, lands with a new music video and previews a score composed by Elton John with lyrics by Shaina Taub.
The album features the London company, including Vanessa Williams as Miranda Priestly, Matt Henry MBE as Nigel, Georgie Buckland as Andy, Amy Di Bartolomeo as Emily, Rhys Whitfield as Nate, and James Darch as Christian. The CD and digital editions include 18 numbers, while the LP offers 12 selected tracks.
Two previously unheard Elton John demos, ‘I Mean Business’ and ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, are included. John has described the story as perfect for musical treatment, and has spoken about shaping a contemporary, joy forward score for the stage.
Since opening at the Dominion Theatre last year, the production has broken venue records and quickly established itself as a West End bestseller. The stage show draws on the 2003 novel and the 2006 film, and continues to post strong box office results as interest builds for the newly announced film sequel now in production.
‘Miranda Girl’ is available to stream now. The original cast recording is available to pre order, with CD, digital and LP formats releasing on 19 September.
