This summer, the Menier Chocolate Factory will revive ‘The Baker’s Wife,’ its first major UK production since its 1989 debut in the West End. The musical, known for Stephen Schwartz’s melodies and Joseph Stein’s storytelling, returns with a tale set in a small French village disrupted by a new baker and his young wife, based on the 1938 film ‘La Femme du Boulanger.’
Directed by Broadway’s Gordon Greenberg, the production features choreography by Matt Cole, designs by Paul Farnsworth, lighting by Paul Anderson, and music supervised by Stuart Morley with Dustin Conrad as musical director.
Details on casting are still forthcoming. ‘The Baker’s Wife’ will run from July 6 to September 14, 2024, with a press night on July 17. Theatre fans are eager for what promises to be an engaging revival at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
