Reeve Carney, Corbin Bleu and John Behlmann Join The Great Gatsby on Broadway

The Great Gatsby has welcomed three major new stars to its Broadway company, with Reeve Carney, Corbin Bleu and John Behlmann joining the hit musical from March 30.

Carney steps into the title role of Jay Gatsby, appearing opposite Eva Noblezada as Daisy Buchanan. Noblezada returned to the production earlier this month to reprise the role she originated, making this latest casting shift an especially high-profile pairing for the Broadway production. The husband-and-wife performers now lead the company in one of the season’s most recognisable romantic tragedies.

Bleu joins the production as Nick Carraway, bringing the role to Broadway after previously originating it in the musical’s West End premiere. His performance in London recently earned him an Olivier Award nomination, adding further momentum to his return to the character. Behlmann, meanwhile, takes on the role of Tom Buchanan, joining the production’s upper-crust “New Money” world as one of the story’s central antagonistic forces.

The new cast members join a company that also includes Samantha Pauly as Jordan Baker, Linedy Genao as Myrtle Wilson, Eric Anderson as Wolfsheim and Charlie Pollock as George Wilson.

Carney arrives at The Great Gatsby with an established profile in both theatre and screen work. He previously appeared alongside Noblezada in the West End production of Cabaret, where he played the Emcee opposite her Sally Bowles. His stage credits also include originating the role of Orpheus in Hadestown on Broadway and in the West End, before returning to the role in London for a limited engagement in 2025. On screen, he has appeared in House of Gucci and Penny Dreadful, while his Broadway debut came in the headline-making role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.

Bleu remains one of the most recognisable crossover performers in the Broadway world, having first risen to international fame through Disney’s High School Musical franchise. Since then, he has built a substantial stage career, with Broadway credits including In the Heights, Godspell, Holiday Inn and Kiss Me, Kate. More recently, New York audiences saw him off-Broadway as Seymour Krelborn in Little Shop of Horrors.

Behlmann also brings significant Broadway experience to the production. He was most recently seen on Broadway in Smash, and his previous credits include Shucked, Tootsie, Significant Other and Journey’s End.

Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel, The Great Gatsby continues to attract attention through its blend of literary prestige, lavish production values and star-driven casting. With Carney, Bleu and Behlmann now joining the company, the musical enters a new phase on Broadway with a refreshed principal cast and renewed audience interest.
