Get ready, Broadway fans! The Queen of Versailles musical, inspired by the 2012 documentary about TV personality Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Siegel, is set to hit the Great White Way in the 2025-2026 season. Currently, the show is dazzling audiences at Boston’s Emerson Colonial Theatre, starring the fabulous Kristin Chenoweth as Siegel and the talented F. Murray Abraham as her husband, David.
Opening in Boston on August 1 and running through August 25, the musical is already generating buzz. Producers Bill Damaschke, Seaview, and Chenoweth’s Diva Worldwide Entertainment are thrilled with the positive reception. They shared their excitement about bringing this unique American story to Broadway, though exact dates and theater details are still under wraps.
Based on Lauren Greenfield’s documentary, The Queen of Versailles follows the Siegels’ ambitious project to build one of the largest homes in the U.S. in Florida, only to have their plans derailed by the 2008 recession. The musical features a score by the legendary Stephen Schwartz, known for hits like Wicked and Pippin, with a book by Lindsey Ferrentino and direction by Michael Arden. Choreography is handled by Lauren Yalango-Grant and Christopher Cree Grant.
The current cast also includes Melody Butiu as Sofia, Stephen DeRosa as John, Greg Hildreth as Gary, Tatum Grace Hopkins as Jonquil, Isabel Keating as Debbie, and Nina White as Victoria Siegel.
