Nicole Scherzinger Delivers Show-Stopping Performance at 2025 Tony Awards

Broadway’s biggest night saw Nicole Scherzinger deliver a breathtaking performance of “As If We Never Said Goodbye” from Sunset Boulevard, bringing the 78th Annual Tony Awards audience to its feet at Radio City Music Hall.

Scherzinger, 46, captivated the elite crowd in her portrayal of faded film star Norma Desmond from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s acclaimed musical. Clad elegantly in a simple black gown and surrounded by atmospheric stage smoke, Scherzinger channeled the legendary glamour and vulnerability of her character, earning a spontaneous standing ovation.

The performance was introduced by none other than Glenn Close, who famously originated the role of Norma Desmond and won a Tony Award in 1993. Close previously attended the revival in April, warmly praising Scherzinger’s interpretation backstage.

This marks Scherzinger’s Broadway debut, and she is nominated for Best Actress in a Musical for this performance. She previously won the Laurence Olivier Award in 2023 during the show’s celebrated West End run.

Sunset Boulevard, directed by Jamie Lloyd, received seven Tony nominations in total this season, including recognition for co-star Tom Francis. The musical, also starring David Thaxton and Grace Hodgett Young, will conclude its run at the St. James Theatre on July 13.

Scherzinger’s electrifying Tony Awards appearance reaffirms her powerful transition from pop star to theatre sensation, earning admiration from fellow Norma Desmond actresses Glenn Close and Patti LuPone, and solidifying her status among Broadway’s most memorable performers.
