Neil Diamond Musical Gets Name; Sets Pre-Broadway World Premiere

Are you a believer in bio-musicals?

The Neil Diamond production is picking up speed as it edges closer to its 2022 release date. We can now confirm that the musical will be called A Beautiful Noise and that it will have its global premiere at the Emerson Colonial Theatre in Boston. The limited four-week run will start on June 21, 2022, culminating on July 17. The theatre’s creative team are hopeful the show will eventually make its way to Broadway.

The announcement makes A Beautiful Noise the first show to announce a show at the historic Boston theatre since the COVID-19 pandemic brought the musical theatre industry to a standstill last year.

Based on the life singer-songwriter Neil Diamond, A Beautiful Noise has a formidable collection of talent attached to the project already. Olivier Award winning and Tony nominee Steven Hoggett has jumped on-board to choreograph, following his fantastic work on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. He will be working alongside writer Anthony McCarten who has worked on feature film productions such as Bohemian Rhapsody and Darkest Hour. The show will also be directed by Tony winner Michael Mayer.

Neil Diamond occupies a special place in the hearts of many Boston natives. His song “Sweet Caroline” has become something of an anthem for their beloved baseball team, the Boston Red Sox, whose fans always partake in a singalong during the eighth-inning of every home game.

Neil Diamond released the following statement in regards to upcoming bio-musical and his relationship with the Fenway Park faithful.

I’ve had the joy of coming to Boston on countless occasions, but one of the most special was my 2013 trip to Fenway where I had the honor of being part of a moment of relief, unity, strength and love.

Next summer, when A Beautiful Noise has its first performance at the Emerson Colonial Theatre, and we’re all able to safely be in the same space together, experiencing the thrill of live theater, I imagine those same emotions will wash over me and the entire audience. Relief, unity, strength, love—I can’t wait to share that experience.

Neil Diamond has been a mainstay in the global music scene since he rose to prominence in the 1960s. He quickly become one of the biggest artists in the entire world, dominating the industry with a plethora of hits all the way through the 70s.  Five decades later, he has been inducted into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has also received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. He is known for song such as “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers,” “Cracklin’ Rosie,” “Love on the Rocks,” “Sweet Caroline (Good Times Never Seemed So Good)” and “I’m a Believer”.
