National Theatre Announces New Additions to NT at Home Streaming Service in 2025

The National Theatre has revealed exciting updates to its NT at Home streaming platform, offering theatre lovers a chance to experience iconic productions from the comfort of their homes. Three highly anticipated titles will be available to stream starting in 2025, bringing top-tier performances from across the UK and beyond.

First up, on January 2, 2025, Lyndsey Turner’s powerful production of Coriolanus, starring David Oyelowo (known for his role in Selma), will join the NT at Home catalogue. This critically acclaimed production brings Shakespeare’s tragic story of politics and revenge to life, with Oyelowo delivering a captivating performance as the titular Roman general.

On January 9, viewers will be able to stream all three parts of Death of England, Clint Dyer and Roy Williams’ hard-hitting series exploring race, identity, and the social landscape of modern Britain. Filmed live at London’s sohoplace, the trilogy comprises Death of England: Michael, starring Thomas Coombes (Baby Reindeer), Death of England: Delroy, featuring Paapa Essiedu, and Death of England: Closing Time, which stars Erin Doherty and Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Dune). These interconnected plays, which also stand alone as individual stories, promise to offer a raw and thought-provoking look at contemporary British society.

Then, on February 14, 2025, NT at Home will stream its first-ever Broadway production: Waitress: The Musical. Captured live on Broadway in 2012, the beloved musical stars Sara Bareilles (Into the Woods) as Jenna, a waitress trying to escape an abusive relationship by winning a pie-making contest. Directed for the screen by Brett Sullivan, with Diane Paulus directing the stage production, Waitress is based on the 2007 film by Adrienne Shelley, featuring a heartfelt book by Jessie Nelson and an emotionally charged score by Bareilles herself.

With these exciting additions, the National Theatre continues to make world-class theatre more accessible than ever before. Whether you’re a fan of Shakespeare, contemporary drama, or heartwarming musicals, 2025 is shaping up to be an unmissable year for NT at Home.
