Michael J. Fox recently encountered a reflection of his youth

Michael J. Fox recently encountered a reflection of his youth. An event reminiscent of a scene from ‘Back to the Future’, the actor encountered Casey Likes, the young performer who portrays Marty McFly in the newly minted Broadway musical adaptation of the cinematic classic.

Fox, Christopher Lloyd, and Lea Thompson were reunited on the Winter Garden Theatre’s red carpet, which boasted a faithful replica of the iconic time-travelling DeLorean. This gathering occurred prior to a benefit performance of Back to the Future: The Musical, with proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. A throng of enthusiastic fans braved the rainy afternoon, eager to witness the convergence of two Marty McFlys and Doc Browns. Fox took a moment to pose with Likes, while Lloyd extended a handshake to Roger Bart, whose transformation into the wild-haired Doc took place before the commencement of the show.

The official Broadway debut of Back to the Future: The Musical is slated for the 3rd of August. However, the special Tuesday performance managed to unite notable members from the original 1985 comedy. Names like Marc McClure, Harry Waters Jr., Donald Fullilove, and even the producer Steven Spielberg were in attendance. A unique auction took place following the performance, with the musical’s producer Colin Ingram aiming to raise a substantial sum of half a million dollars. Many cast members sported grey ribbons on the red carpet, signalling their support for Parkinson’s research.

Back to the Future: The Musical originally premiered in Manchester in 2020 but was abruptly interrupted by the pandemic. The production subsequently moved to London’s West End in 2021. Bob Gale, who co-wrote the original film trilogy with Robert Zemeckis, also penned the musical’s book. Original composer Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard crafted the music and lyrics, maintaining the rock ‘n roll influence from the original film. New songs were added to the repertoire, including beloved hits such as ‘The Power of Love’ and ‘Johnny B. Goode’.
