Megan Thee Stallion to Make Historic Broadway Debut as Zidler in Moulin Rouge!

Three time Grammy Award winner Megan Thee Stallion is set to make her Broadway debut this spring, stepping into the spotlight at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in the hit musical Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

The global music star will take on the role of the flamboyant nightclub impresario Harold Zidler for a strictly limited eight week engagement, beginning March 24, 2026 and running through May 17. Her casting marks a historic first for the production, as she becomes the first female identifying performer to play Zidler on Broadway. The role was originated by Tony Award winner Danny Burstein, who earned a Tony for his portrayal.

Megan Thee Stallion steps into the part following Bob the Drag Queen, bringing a fresh dynamic to the larger than life master of ceremonies who presides over the famed Parisian nightclub.

Best known for chart topping hits including Savage and HISS, Megan will not only lend her presence to the jukebox musical’s high energy score of contemporary pop anthems, but audiences can also expect a subtle nod to her own catalogue woven into the show. Producers have teased that there will be a hint of music from the rapper’s iconic repertoire, offering fans a unique theatrical twist on her signature sound.

“Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honor,” Megan Thee Stallion said in a statement. “I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace. Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me.”

While this marks her first appearance on Broadway, Megan is no stranger to acting. She previously appeared in the A24 film Dicks: The Musical, and has featured in television series including P-Valley on STARZ and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Producer Carmen Pavlovic described the casting as a defining moment in the show’s final months on Broadway. “Welcoming Megan Thee Stallion into the Moulin Rouge! The Musical community is a thrilling moment for us,” Pavlovic said. “Megan is a true global superstar. She is one of the most influential artists of her generation and her impact on music and culture is undeniable. This historic casting is a major part of our closing celebrations, our farewell gift to Broadway audiences and one of our biggest announcements in the history of Moulin Rouge! The Musical. We want our show to go out with a spectacular bang, and Megan is the force of nature to lead us there.”

Her engagement arrives as Moulin Rouge! approaches the end of its Broadway run, with the production scheduled to play its final performance on July 26. Since opening, the musical has become a dazzling fixture of the Broadway landscape, celebrated for its opulent design, mash up pop score and high octane performances.

With one of music’s most dynamic performers stepping into one of Broadway’s most extravagant roles, the final months of Moulin Rouge! promise to be nothing short of spectacular. For Megan’s devoted fanbase and theatre lovers alike, this limited run is shaping up to be an unmissable theatrical event.
