Megan Thee Stallion Hospitalized During Broadway Performance Of Moulin Rouge!

Megan Thee Stallion was rushed to hospital after falling ill during a performance of Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway on Tuesday night, prompting the show to be briefly halted before an understudy stepped in to continue the production.

The Grammy-winning artist, whose real name is Megan Pete, is currently making her Broadway debut in the role of Harold Zidler, with a limited season that began on March 24 and is scheduled to run through May 17. Her appearance in the Tony Award-winning musical has drawn significant attention, with fans eager to see the rapper and performer take on a major new stage challenge.

According to reports from audience members, the performance was stopped just minutes after the opening scenes when Megan appeared to become unwell. Theatre staff reportedly instructed patrons to remain seated while the situation was addressed. The production later resumed with another actor taking over the role for the remainder of the evening.

Representatives for Megan later confirmed that she had been taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation after experiencing concerning symptoms during the show. It was subsequently determined that her condition was caused by extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels.

In a statement, her team said Megan had since received treatment, been discharged from hospital and was now resting. They also noted that she was grateful for the support and well wishes she had received, and was expected to return to the production on Thursday.

Concern for the performer quickly spread online following the incident. Megan’s hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, posted from the hospital asking followers to keep her in their thoughts, while entertainment journalist Loren LoRosa, who was in attendance, shared that Megan had appeared strong in the opening moments of the show before the sudden interruption.

Megan’s Broadway run in Moulin Rouge! marks another step in her expanding screen and stage career. Best known for chart-topping hits including “WAP,” she has also appeared in movie musicals such as Mean Girls and in television projects including Big Mouth and She-Hulk. When her Broadway casting was announced in February, Megan described the opportunity as “an absolute honor,” saying she was excited to challenge herself creatively in a new medium.

Her temporary exit from Tuesday’s performance came as a shock to theatre-goers, but with her team indicating she is recovering and planning to return, fans will be hoping the star is back on stage quickly and in full health.
