Mari agrees to acquire ATG Entertainment in reported £4.5 billion transaction

Mari has agreed to acquire UK-headquartered ATG Entertainment, according to Axios, which reported the agreement on 11 August 2026. The transaction has been reported at approximately US$6 billion, or £4.5 billion, including debt. It concerns ATG’s international theatre and ticketing business, not only its London venues. The available reporting does not establish that the acquisition has completed.

The corporate buyer is Mari, a global events and experiences company founded by Ari Emanuel. The agreement is for Mari to acquire ATG Entertainment as a group. It is not a personal purchase or a series of separate acquisitions of individual West End theatres.

ATG says on its official website that it owns, operates or programmes 70 venues worldwide. That total includes 10 West End venues and seven Broadway venues. ATG’s wording is important because the company does not present every venue in the portfolio as one it owns.

The West End portfolio comprises the Apollo Victoria, Ambassadors, Duke of York’s, Fortune, Harold Pinter, Lyceum, Phoenix, Piccadilly, Playhouse and Savoy theatres. All 10 are included through Mari’s agreement to acquire the wider ATG group. The reported valuation therefore applies to the international business rather than to these London venues alone.

The 10 West End and seven Broadway venues account for 17 of ATG’s stated network of 70. Beyond those two markets, the portfolio covers UK regional venues, US regional venues and venues in continental Europe. The agreement is consequently international in scope, although its West End component gives it direct significance for the London theatre market.

Ticketing is also part of the transaction. ATG operates ATGtickets.com, LOVEtheatre.com and Group Line, and the acquisition encompasses those operations alongside the venue business. Mari has therefore agreed to acquire more than a portfolio of theatres.

The reported £4.5 billion figure should not be read as an officially disclosed cash purchase price. It is a reported transaction valuation that includes debt, with an approximate equivalent of US$6 billion. It relates to ATG’s international theatre and ticketing operations as a whole, rather than to the West End portfolio in isolation.

The August report is a distinct development from the position described earlier in the year. Reporting dated 23 June 2026 said Mari was in advanced talks to acquire ATG, establishing negotiations but not an agreement. Axios’s 11 August account says Mari has agreed to the acquisition.

An acquisition agreement is not the same as a completed transfer of control. The available reporting supports describing Mari as having agreed to acquire ATG, but not as having bought the company or taken control of its venues and ticketing businesses. The materially new development is the move from reported talks to an agreed transaction affecting ATG’s 10 West End venues and its wider international operations.
