Life of Pi announces full Broadway cast 2023

Life of Pi is a beloved and critically acclaimed novel and film, and the play adaptation has been well-received. The story of a young man who survives a shipwreck and finds himself stranded on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger is both harrowing and heartwarming, and the play’s exploration of faith, survival, and human nature resonates with many people.

The cast of Life of Pi includes a mix of established and up-and-coming actors, many of whom have won awards for their work. The play also features puppetry and movement, which adds an extra layer of interest and excitement to the production.

The Broadway premiere of Life of Pi has just announced its complete cast, which includes Hiran Abeysekera, Fred Davis, and Scarlet Wilderink from the original London production. The play is set to open at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on March 30th, with previews starting on March 9th. The production recently had its North American premiere at American Repertory Theatre at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, running from December 4, 2022, through January 29th.

The 24-member cast also features Brian Thomas Abraham, Rajesh Bose, Avery Glymph, Mahira Kakkar, Kirstin Louie, Salma Qarnain, Sathya Sridharan, Daisuke Tsuji, Sonya Venugopal, and others. Max Webster directs the production, which has scenic and costume design by Tim Hatley, puppet and movement direction by Finn Caldwell, and video design by Andrzej Goulding, among others. The play is based on Yann Martel’s best-selling novel, adapted by playwright Lolita Chakrabarti, and follows the story of Pi, the lone human survivor of a shipwreck who finds himself stranded on a lifeboat with a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a Royal Bengal tiger.

Produced by a large group including Simon Friend, Daryl Roth, and Mark Gordon Pictures, Life of Pi promises to be an exciting production that will captivate audiences when it opens on Broadway later this month.

The creative team behind Life of Pi includes some of the most talented designers and technicians working in theatre today. From scenic and costume design to puppet and movement direction, video design, lighting design, sound design, original music, and dramaturgy, the play’s creative team has crafted a rich and immersive world that transports audiences to the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
