Leslie Odom Jr. to Make West End Debut Reprising Aaron Burr in Hamilton

Tony Award winning performer Leslie Odom Jr. is set to make his West End debut this summer, returning to the role that first made him a Broadway star.

The actor will reprise his acclaimed performance as Aaron Burr in the hit musical Hamilton when he joins the London production in July.

Returning to a career defining role

Odom originated the role of Aaron Burr in Hamilton on Broadway, earning widespread praise for his nuanced portrayal of the ambitious politician who serves as both narrator and rival to Alexander Hamilton.

His performance in the musical’s original Broadway production earned him the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical and helped cement the show’s status as one of the defining theatrical works of the 21st century.

Now, years after leaving the production, Odom will step back into the role for a special run in London’s West End.

A global phenomenon

Created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton blends hip hop, R&B and traditional musical theatre to tell the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton.

Since its Broadway premiere in 2015, the musical has become an international phenomenon, with productions staged across North America, Europe and beyond.

The London production, currently playing at the Victoria Palace Theatre, has been a major fixture of the West End since opening in 2017.

A milestone moment

For Odom, the upcoming engagement represents another milestone in a career that has expanded far beyond the stage.

In addition to his theatre work, he has built a successful career in film, television and music, including an Academy Award nominated performance in the film One Night in Miami and several solo albums.

Returning to Hamilton in London will allow audiences to see the actor revisit one of the most iconic performances in modern musical theatre, this time on the West End stage for the first time.
