Hadestown: ‘Wait For Me’ Live West End Recording Released

Fans of Hadestown can now enjoy an exclusive first listen to ‘Wait For Me,’ a track from the original West End cast recording of the critically acclaimed musical. Recorded live at the Lyric Theatre during the production’s final matinee performance, the album captures the electrifying atmosphere of the West End production and will be released by Sing It Again Records on Friday, 6 December.

The featured track showcases Dónal Finn as Orpheus, Melanie La Barrie as Hermes, and the company, bringing the hauntingly beautiful song to life. Other standout cast members contributing to the album include Grace Hodgett Young as Eurydice, Gloria Onitiri as Persephone, and Zachary James as Hades. The three Fates are performed by Madeline Charlemagne, Allie Daniel, and Bella Brown, with additional ensemble contributions from Lauren Azania, Tiago Dhondt Bamberger, Beth Hinton-Lever, Waylon Jacobs, and Christopher Short, as well as swings Lucinda Buckley, Ryesha Higgs, Miriam Nyarko, and Simon Oskarsson.

 

 

The recording highlights the Grammy-winning music, lyrics, and book by Anaïs Mitchell, with direction by Tony Award winner Rachel Chavkin. The album brings a unique perspective to the much-loved musical, which reimagines the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in a vibrant and modern way.

Fans can look forward to Hadestown – Live From London being available in multiple formats, including standard black vinyl, a limited edition deluxe gatefold ‘pop-up’ vinyl, CD, and digital download and streaming services. The full track listing on the CD includes beloved numbers such as ‘Road to Hell,’ ‘Way Down Hadestown,’ and ‘Why We Build the Wall,’ alongside the poignant and powerful ‘Wait For Me.’

The vinyl edition features a curated selection of tracks spread across two sides, ensuring an immersive listening experience that mirrors the intensity of the live performance.

This live album offers an enduring memento of the West End run of Hadestown, capturing the soul-stirring performances and the magic of its final bow in London. Whether revisiting favourite songs or discovering them for the first time, this recording is a must-have for fans of the musical.
