Frank Sinatra Jukebox Musical to Open in the West End This Summer

A new jukebox musical celebrating the life and music of Frank Sinatra is set to arrive in the West End this summer, bringing one of the 20th century’s most iconic voices to the stage.

Sinatra The Musical will open at the Aldwych Theatre on Wednesday 3 June, with performances scheduled to run through to April 10, 2027. The production previously premiered at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre in 2023 and has been developed with the approval of the Sinatra Estate.

The musical traces Sinatra’s rise from early stardom to international fame, beginning with his landmark performance at New York City’s Paramount Theatre on New Year’s Eve in 1942. As his career accelerates, the story explores the personal and professional tensions that shaped his life, including his marriage to Nancy Sinatra and his high-profile relationship with film star Ava Gardner. The narrative follows the period in which personal upheaval threatens his career, leading to a defining comeback.

The book has been written by Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro, with direction by fellow Tony Award recipient Kathleen Marshall. The score will feature more than 20 of Sinatra’s best-known songs, including “That’s Life,” “Come Fly With Me,” “The Best Is Yet To Come,” and “One for My Baby.” Casting details have yet to be announced.

The Sinatra Estate has described the production as an intimate portrait of the singer, framed through the emotional honesty of his music rather than public myth. Tina Sinatra, Frank Sinatra’s daughter, has said the musical reflects how her father viewed his songs as a personal record of his life, capturing his passion, humour, and vulnerability.

With its blend of biography and classic hits, Sinatra The Musical is poised to become a major addition to the West End’s slate of music-led productions when it opens this June.
