Dylan Mulvaney Makes Broadway Debut as Anne Boleyn in Six

Dylan Mulvaney has made her Broadway debut, stepping into the role of Anne Boleyn in the hit musical Six on 16 February at the Lena Horne Theatre.

The 29 year old content creator, who uses she and they pronouns, joined the long running pop musical phenomenon as one of Henry VIII’s six wives, portrayed through high energy concert style storytelling. The production reimagines the Tudor queens as a modern girl group, each reclaiming her narrative through song.

Mulvaney marked the milestone on social media shortly after the curtain fell, sharing a backstage video and expressing her exhilaration at taking the stage. The Broadway bow represents a significant moment in her career, following years in the public eye documenting her transition through the viral “Days of Girlhood” series.

She was joined in the cast by fellow content creator and composer Abigail Barlow, who also made her Broadway debut in the role of Katherine Howard. Returning cast members Adrianna Hicks, Anna Uzele, Jasmine Forsberg and Olivia Donalson completed the lineup for the performance.

Friends and family were in attendance for the milestone evening, including actor Joe Locke and Mulvaney’s mother, who showed their support with custom made shirts celebrating her character.

In the weeks leading up to opening night, Mulvaney had shared insights into her preparation process online, reviving her “Days of Girlhood” series to coincide with the start of rehearsals on 19 January. Alongside messages of encouragement, she acknowledged facing criticism and skepticism about her casting. Rather than engaging with detractors, she chose to focus on the work and the opportunity itself.

Her Broadway debut follows an off Broadway run of her one woman show, The Least Problematic Woman in the World, which played a limited season in New York from 7 October to 30 November after premiering at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The show blended humour and personal storytelling, reflecting on her experiences in the public spotlight.

The project was conceived in part in response to the intense backlash she faced following a sponsored social media post with Bud Light, which triggered widespread online criticism and a consumer boycott. In interviews at the time, Mulvaney described feeling compelled to create her own opportunities in theatre, citing the challenges of being cast as a transgender performer in the current industry climate.

A graduate of the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music with a BFA in musical theatre, Mulvaney has previously toured nationally in The Book of Mormon, performing the role of Elder White.

With her Broadway debut now behind her, Mulvaney adds a new chapter to a career that has spanned digital media, live performance and musical theatre, marking her arrival on one of the world’s most high profile stages.
