Casting Update for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Tour

The much-loved musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is gearing up for a vibrant new UK tour, with exciting casting updates ahead of its festive launch at Edinburgh Playhouse on 3 December 2024.

Legendary performer Donny Osmond, who famously played the titular role of Joseph over 2000 times, is set to dazzle audiences once again, this time as the Pharaoh during the Edinburgh season. This festive engagement promises to be a special treat for fans of the musical.

Joe McElderry Expands His Role

Previously announced as taking on select performances, X Factor winner Joe McElderry has now confirmed appearances in a variety of additional cities, including Manchester, Bristol, Southend, Liverpool, Cardiff, Glasgow, Milton Keynes, and more. He joins a packed tour schedule that will also take the production to Sunderland, Canterbury, Nottingham, Belfast, Leeds, Blackpool, Newcastle, Plymouth, and other key locations.

Star-Studded Cast

Joining Osmond and McElderry are Christina Bianco as the Narrator and Adam Filipe as Joseph. Supporting roles include Hugh Cotton as Reuben and Will Haswell as Simeon. The ensemble features an array of talented performers, with Aaron Archer, Bella Baldock, and others bringing energy to the stage. A children’s company of young stars will also add their charm, ensuring the show’s multi-generational appeal.

Directed by Laurence Connor, the revival showcases choreography by JoAnn M Hunter, with set and costume design by Morgan Large, lighting by Ben Cracknell, and sound by Gareth Owen. Casting is by David Grindrod, with musical supervision by John Rigby. The production will bring Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s timeless biblical tale to audiences across the UK.

Audiences can look forward to beloved classics such as Any Dream Will Do, Close Every Door To Me, and Go Go Go Joseph. The show retells the story of Joseph and his eleven brothers with humor, heart, and unforgettable music.

Following its Edinburgh debut, the tour will visit cities including Oxford, Norwich, Southampton, Birmingham, and Cardiff, among others. Additional casting for Pharaoh in Norwich, Southampton, and Birmingham is yet to be announced, building further anticipation.
