Broadway’s smash-hit Kinky Boots set to take Auckland and Wellington in 2023

Prepare to be enthralled, New Zealand, as the internationally acclaimed musical Kinky Boots is set to dazzle audiences in Auckland and Wellington in 2023.

Featuring a Tony Award-winning score by pop icon Cyndi Lauper, this sensational production will be directed by one of New Zealand’s most accomplished directors, David Adkins. He says, “Kinky Boots is the perfect antidote to uplift spirits after a challenging few years. Fun, free-spirited, and brimming with heart, we know it’ll capture your hearts.”

Renowned producers from the unforgettable Jersey Boys and Les Misérables will join forces to bring you an unparalleled musical extravaganza.

Kinky Boots tells the story of Charlie Price, who reluctantly inherits his father’s shoe factory. Facing imminent bankruptcy, Price endeavors to save his family business, finding inspiration in the fabulous entertainer, Lola. As the unlikely duo work together to transform the factory’s fate, they discover they share more in common than they initially realized. The show’s uplifting message demonstrates that when you change your mind, you can change your entire world.

Set to grace the stage in Auckland from May 26 and Wellington from June 28, Kinky Boots promises heart-stopping choreography, vibrant costumes, and an incredibly moving story that will leave audiences questioning why they ever wanted to fit in.

While the show has captivated Broadway audiences, it now receives a touch of Kiwi magic with costumes designed and crafted in Aotearoa by Stephen Robertson and a dazzling set created by Harold Moot. Prepare to be swept off your feet by the charm and flair of Kinky Boots!
