Broadway’s Maybe Happy Ending to Release Cast Recording in Spring 2025

The Broadway musical Maybe Happy Ending is set to release its original Broadway cast recording in spring 2025, producers have announced. While an exact release date has yet to be confirmed, fans of the romantic musical comedy can soon experience its enchanting score on demand.

Starring Darren Criss and Helen J Shen as robots who discover love and connection, Maybe Happy Ending brings a heartwarming and futuristic tale to the stage. The album’s release playfully raises a question posed by its own robot protagonist, Oliver: will it be available in his preferred format—vinyl?

The production, featuring music and lyrics by Will Aronson and Hue Park (with Aronson also orchestrating the score), officially opened at the Belasco Theatre on November 12. Directed by Tony Award winner Michael Arden, Maybe Happy Ending originally premiered in 2016 in Seoul, South Korea, where it debuted in its Korean-language version.

The cast also includes Dez Duron and Marcus Choi, rounding out the talented ensemble.

In a recent interview with Broadway.com, Aronson and Park reflected on the creation of the musical and its journey from South Korea to Broadway. The show’s delicate score, described as both tender and whimsical, will be preserved in this highly anticipated album.

The musical’s team of skilled artists also contributes to the production’s success. Leading the show’s musical elements are musical director and conductor John Yun, associate conductor Eric Kang, musical supervisor Deborah Abramson, and coordinator Kimberlee Wertz.

The instrumental lineup includes:

  • Cenovia Cummins (concertmaster/violin)
  • Rachel Handman Robison (violin)
  • Orlando Wells (viola)
  • Jessica Wang (cello)
  • Conrad Korsch (bass)
  • Joshua Mark Samuels (drums/percussion)
  • Rick Heckman (woodwinds)
  • John Bailey (trumpets)
  • Julie Dombroski-Jones (trombone)

Additionally, Randy Cohen handles keyboard programming with associate work by Julie Dombroski-Jones.

With a mix of human warmth and robotic charm, Maybe Happy Ending has struck a chord with audiences since its debut, blending humor, heart, and a lush musical score. Fans eagerly awaiting the cast album can look forward to reliving the production’s magic when it hits shelves and streaming platforms in 2025.

Stay tuned for more updates, including the album’s official release date!
