Broadway to Welcome ‘The Great Gatsby’ Musical with Stars Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada

Broadway is gearing up for the grand arrival of ‘The Great Gatsby’, the musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s celebrated novel, with its opening night set for April 25 at The Broadway Theatre. Lead producer Chunsoo Shin confirmed the news on Tuesday, marking a significant moment for theatre enthusiasts.

Following its record-breaking run at the Off-Broadway theater Paper Mill Playhouse, where it became the highest-grossing show in the theatre’s history, the musical is set to make its Broadway debut. Directed by Marc Bruni, the production will see Jeremy Jordan and Eva Noblezada reprising their roles as Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan, respectively. Previews are slated to begin on March 29.

Shin expressed his passion for the production, emphasizing its ability to capture the novel’s essence of idealism and its relevance to modern audiences. “The Great Gatsby is a unique masterpiece that continues to resonate across generations and cultures,” said Shin.

Since its first publication in 1925, Fitzgerald’s novel has sold over 30 million copies and is translated into more than 42 languages, inspiring numerous adaptations across various media.

The Broadway production promises an even more refined experience than its world premiere at Paper Mill Playhouse. The earlier run, from October 12 to November 12, saw record-breaking ticket sales and sold out before the first performance.

The musical boasts an impressive creative team. The book is penned by Kait Kerrigan, with a jazz- and pop-influenced score by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen. Choreography is by Dominique Kelley, scenic and projection design by Paul Tate de Poo III, costume design by Linda Cho, lighting design by Cory Pattak, and sound design by Brian Ronan. The hair and wig design is managed by Charles G. LaPointe and Rachael Geier.

Arrangements for the musical are by Jason Howland, with orchestrations by Howland and Kim Scharnberg, and music direction by Daniel Edmonds. The production’s music producer is Grammy Award winner Billy Jay Stein of Strike Audio. C12 Casting oversees casting, with Brian Bogin as the Production Stage Manager.

Notably, ‘The Great Gatsby’ musical’s Broadway debut coincides with another adaptation of Fitzgerald’s novel, ‘Gatsby’, which is set to premiere at the American Repertory Theater. This production features music by Florence Welch and Thomas Bartlett, lyrics by Welch, and a book by Pulitzer Prize winner Martyna Majok.
