Broadway Revival: Katie Holmes Stars in ‘Our Town’ This Fall

Katie Holmes is set to return to the Broadway stage in an exciting new revival of ‘Our Town.’ The actress, known for her diverse career in film and television, has recently been focusing on theater, taking on projects that allow her to explore different facets of her artistry. This upcoming production marks another significant step in her journey.

‘Our Town,’ a classic play first performed in 1938, was written by the renowned playwright Thornton Wilder, a three-time Pulitzer Prize winner. The play is celebrated for its simple yet profound depiction of everyday life, capturing the essence of human existence through the stories of two families, the Webbs and the Gibbs, over a span of a decade.

This revival is particularly noteworthy as it’s the first major production of ‘Our Town’ on Broadway in over two decades. The last time it graced the stage was in 2002, with the legendary Paul Newman in the lead role. This time around, Holmes will take on the role of Mrs. Webb, a character known for her practicality and deep commitment to her family. She will be sharing the stage with a talented cast that includes Jim Parsons, Zoey Deutch, Ephraim Sykes, Richard Thomas, and Julie Halston.

Directed by Kenny Leon, the play is set to open at the Barrymore Theater on September 17th, with performances scheduled from Tuesday to Sunday, including two shows on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The production will run until January 19, 2025, making it a must-see event for theatergoers this season. As anticipation builds, ‘Our Town’ is already shaping up to be one of the highlights of the Broadway calendar.
