Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ Purpose signed off with its strongest week to date, grossing just over $1 million in its final Broadway week. The play also set a house record at the Hayes Theater, surpassing the tally posted last season by Appropriate, another Jacobs-Jenkins work. Capacity hit 100 percent and the average ticket price climbed to $219.52, both the highest of the run. The drama about a prominent Black family and its political legacy opened on March 17 and went on to win the Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
Previews began for Art on August 28 at the Music Box Theatre. The production, starring James Corden, Neil Patrick Harris, and Bobby Cannavale, posted a strong $668,504 across three performances. Its $223 average ticket price tied for the week’s highest alongside Just In Time.
Mamma Mia! continued its steady climb at the Winter Garden Theatre, taking $1.79 million, up about $2,000 week on week, and maintained 100 percent capacity.

Mamma Mia! rounded out the top four with $1.79 million, and Maybe Happy Ending posted $1.6 million as Darren Criss completed his final performance before a brief hiatus.
