The production team behind The Bodyguard is pleased to announce that esteemed Australian recording artist Emily Williams will assume the key role of Rachel Marron in the ongoing touring rendition of the show.
Williams, an Australian Idol alumni who soared to stardom, is not new to this role, having splendidly depicted it in the 2017 Australian iteration of The Bodyguard. Her first appearance in the current production is slated for 12th September at Liverpool Empire.
Following her Idol journey, Williams entered into a contract with Sony BMG Australia, thereby broadening her musical horizons as a member of the Australian all-female ensemble, Young Divas. The collective achieved considerable commercial success, releasing two top-ten albums – ‘Young Divas’ (2006) and ‘New Attitude’ (2007). They also scored three top-fifteen singles, including the phenomenally successful track, “This Time I Know It’s for Real”.
Upon the disbandment of Young Divas in 2008 and the subsequent end of Williams’ contract with Sony BMG, she ventured into releasing her music independently. 2010 saw the release of Williams’ inaugural solo single “Spellbound”, and she further expanded her musical catalogue with her debut solo album ‘Uncovered’ in 2012.
The ensemble cast further includes Ayden Callaghan, famed for his roles in Emmerdale and Hollyoaks, as Frank Farmer, with Emily-Mae taking on the role of Nicki Marron, and John Macaulay as Bill Devaney. Graham Elwell, James Groom, Marios Nicolaides, and Phil Atkinson will be playing the roles of Tony, Sy Spector, Stalker, and Ray Court, respectively. The role of Fletcher will be portrayed in turn by Ryo Appadu, Kaylen Luke, Manasseh Mapira, and Sam Stephens.
Additional members of the company include Alexandros Beshonges, Kayne Gordon, Jack Hardwick, James-Lee Harris, Kalisha Johnson, Samantha Mbolekwa, Liam Morris, Abbie Quinnen, Charlotte Scally, Yiota Theo, and Marco Venturini.
The Bodyguard, under the expert production of Michael Harrison and David Ian, showcases unforgettable Whitney Houston hits like I Will Always Love You and I Wanna Dance With Somebody. The narrative unfurls the story of a celebrated singer who finds herself falling in love with her bodyguard, all while being pursued by a relentless stalker.
