Anna Wintour Pays Backstage Visit to Rachel Zegler at EVITA

Anna Wintour, the former editor in chief of Vogue, attended a recent performance of EVITA at the London Palladium and went backstage afterward to congratulate lead actor Rachel Zegler. Actor Cynthia Nixon accompanied Wintour, making the evening one of the most high profile visits yet for the hit revival.

The show’s official Instagram account posted black and white images of Wintour greeting Zegler, who was still in full Eva Perón costume. The caption praised the occasion as the season’s most stylish affair, reinforcing the production’s growing reputation as a magnet for fashion and entertainment luminaries. Previous celebrity guests have included Pedro Pascal, Sarah Paulson, Keanu Reeves and Elaine Paige, all adding sparkle to the nightly curtain calls.

Directed by Jamie Lloyd, the limited engagement opened on 1 July and has become one of the West End’s biggest draws this summer. Critics have highlighted Zegler’s vocal power and emotional depth, especially during the balcony number Don’t Cry for Me Argentina. High demand for tickets reflects renewed interest in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s through sung portrayal of Argentina’s First Lady.

Producers confirm that Zegler will stay in the title role until the run ends on 6 September, concluding a twelve week season at the 2,300 seat venue. With fashion icons now lending their support, the production shows no signs of losing momentum as it approaches its final performances.
