Andrew Scott to Star in Film Adaptation of David Haig’s Stage Play Pressure
David Haig’s acclaimed play Pressure is set to make its transition to the big screen with an exciting cast. The wartime drama, which captivated audiences during its West End run in 2018, tells the true story of James Stagg, whose crucial weather forecasts played a pivotal role in determining the dates for the D-Day landings.
The film adaptation will see multi-award-winning actor Andrew Scott, known for his roles in Vanya, All of Us Strangers, and Ripley, take on the lead role of Stagg. Brendan Fraser, fresh off his acclaimed performance in The Whale, will portray Allied commander and future US President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Haig, who originally portrayed Stagg in the stage production, co-writes the screenplay for the film alongside director Anthony Maras, known for his work on Hotel Mumbai. The play initially debuted in 2014 at the Royal Lyceum in Edinburgh before its successful West End run at the Ambassadors Theatre.
Further casting details and a release date for the film are yet to be announced, but it is anticipated to hit theaters in 2025. Fans of the original stage production and newcomers alike can look forward to a gripping retelling of this remarkable true story on the big screen.
