An Officer and a Gentleman Musical Completes Casting

The much-anticipated touring production of ‘An Officer and a Gentleman,’ the musical adaptation of the iconic film, has announced its complete cast. The announcement comes as the production enters its rehearsal phase, building anticipation for its nationwide journey across major cities.

Originally premiered at Curve in the spring of 2018, the musical’s narrative draws inspiration from Douglas Day Stewart’s personal experiences as a naval officer candidate. The storyline is brought to life by Stewart himself and Sharleen Cooper Cohen, who co-wrote the book for the musical. The show is set to resonate with audiences through a powerful soundtrack featuring hits like ‘Up Where We Belong,’ ‘Alone,’ and ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun,’ among others.

The tour’s ensemble boasts a collection of acclaimed talents from the stage and screen. Luke Baker, known for his role in ‘Billy Elliot,’ will take on the lead as Zack Mayo, alongside Georgia Lennon from ‘The Osmonds’ as Paula Pokrifki. The cast also includes Jamal Crawford from ‘Fame’ as Gunnery Sergeant Emil Foley, Paul French of ‘Grease’ as Sid Worley, and Sinead Long from ‘Sylvia’ as Lynette Pomeroy.

The stage will be further graced by Melanie Masson of ‘The X-Factor’ as Esther Pokrifki, Tim Rogers from ‘West Side Story’ as Byron Mayo, and a host of other talents including Olivia Foster-Browne, Lucas Piquero, Chris Breistein, Wendi Harriott, James Wilkinson-Jones, and Danny Whelan. The ensemble is rounded off by notable performers such as Julia Jones, Etisyai Philip, Mia Harrison, Lukin Simmonds, Will May, and Ellie Grace Cousins.

The creative powerhouse behind the production includes Director Nikolai Foster and Choreographer Joanna Goodwin. The team is further strengthened by Michael Taylor’s set and costume design, George Dyer’s musical supervision and orchestration, Ben Cracknell’s lighting design, and Tom Marshall’s sound design. The aesthetics are completed by Sam Cox’s wig, hair, and makeup design, with casting by Debbie O’Brien and associate direction by Michaela Powell.

Produced by a collaboration including Jamie Wilson, Jack Maple, Gavin Kalin, Jason Haigh-Ellery, Paramount Pictures, and Warner Bros Theatre Ventures, the musical is poised for a grand showcase. The tour is set to commence at Birmingham’s Alexandra Theatre on February 23, 2024, before weaving through an impressive lineup of cities including Glasgow, Belfast, Manchester, Cardiff, and Liverpool, concluding with a finale in Hull.

With its star-studded cast and talented creative team, ‘An Officer and a Gentleman’ promises to be an enthralling musical experience, rekindling the spirit of the beloved film and captivating audiences nationwide.
