Alyssa Milano, widely recognized for her roles in Who’s the Boss? and Charmed, is set to make her Broadway debut in the Tony-winning revival of Chicago. Beginning September 16, Milano will take on the role of Roxie Hart at the Ambassador Theatre, with her limited engagement running through November 10. Milano’s casting marks a significant return to her roots in musical theatre, harking back to her early years when she first performed with the national touring company of Annie.

Milano joins a cast that includes Robyn Hurder as Velma Kelly, Orfeh as Matron “Mama” Morton, Max von Essen as Billy Flynn, Red Concepción as Amos Hart, and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine. The ensemble features a strong lineup of performers, including David Bushman, Jennifer Dunne, Jeff Gorti, Jaquez, Arian Keddell, Mary Claire King, Marty Lawson, Joseph London, Barrett Martin, Sharon Moore, Celina Nightengale, Kristen Faith Oei, Denny Paschall, Jermaine R. Rembert, Mikayla Renfrow, Michael Scirrotto, Rachel Shur, and Matthew Winnegge.

The revival of Chicago began as part of the Encores! series at City Center, debuting on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 1996. After a brief tenure at the Shubert Theatre, the production moved to the Ambassador Theatre, where it has been running since January 2003. Over its long history, Chicago has been performed in 38 countries and more than 525 cities, drawing over 34 million viewers. The show stands as the second-longest running production in Broadway history, only recently surpassed by The Phantom of the Opera.

The musical, set in the jazz-infused, tumultuous world of 1920s Chicago, features a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander, and lyrics by Ebb. The current production is directed by Walter Bobbie, with choreography by the late Ann Reinking. The creative team also includes set design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting design by Ken Billington, sound design by Scott Lehrer, and casting by Duncan Stewart of ARC Casting.

Produced by Barry and Fran Weissler, Chicago won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997, along with multiple awards for its cast and creative team, including Bebe Neuwirth, James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington, and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production, directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse, continues to influence the revival’s enduring success.

Milano’s debut in Chicago as Roxie Hart adds a new chapter to her extensive career and brings fresh excitement to a production that remains a staple of Broadway’s vibrant lineup. Tickets for her performances are available now, offering audiences the chance to see Milano in one of musical theatre’s most iconic roles.
