Win a double pass to Songs Not To Dance To at Riverside Theatres, Parramatta

AussieTheatre has two double passes to giveaway to Songs Not To Dance To by FORM Dance Projects at the Lennox Theatre, Riverside Theatres, Parramatta on Friday the 6th at 12:30pm.

Can all songs be danced to?

To answer the question, the performers attempt a series of contemporary dance solos and duets to a mix of songs that are iconic, utterly obscure or extremely cheesy.

The talented duo perform to songs including Christina Aguilera’s Beautiful, Jimmy Barnes’ Working Class Man and ABBA’s The Way Old Friends Do; spliced with tracks by legendary jazz pianist Keith Jarrett.

By choosing to dance to the seemingly ‘undanceable’, the artists playfully entice the audience to witness a series of attempts, against all odds, with as much dignity and humour as possible.

At the conclusion of each show, the performers will dance to a mystery ‘song not to dance to’, randomly selected from public contributions. In the lead up to the show, the public are invited to nominate an ‘undanceable’ song via social media with the hashtag #SNTDT.

Performer Martin del Amo said; “I think most people can relate to the joy associated with dancing wildly in the privacy of your own bedroom or burning up the dance floor in the wee hours of the morning. A lot of the songs we’re using are instantly recognisable and tap into the individual emotions they trigger for each audience member, may they be positive or negative.”

A renowned choreographer and dancer, Martin del Amo received a 2012 Helpmann Awards nomination for Anatomy of an Afternoon, which toured with great success to Southbank Centre London last year.

Competition closes 24 February, 2015 at 6pm AEDST. Winners will be contacted via email/phone.
