Based on the celebrated novel by Daniel Wallace and the acclaimed film directed by Tim Burton, Big Fish centres on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest… and then some! Edward’s incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him – most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales.
Overflowing with heart, humour and spectacular stagecraft, Big Fish is an extraordinary new Broadway musical that reminds us why we love going to the theatre – for an experience that’s richer, funnier and bigger than life itself. Announcing the cast today Director Tyran Parke said, “Since the moment we announced we were holding ‘open auditions’ for this production, we were overwhelmed by the amount of talent presented and the enthusiasm for this special story.
The casting process was both exhaustive and exhilarating. And now, finally, we are thrilled to announce a wonderful mix of established actors and fresh new talent who will make up our magical menagerie of characters. From established stars who have leading roles Phillip Lowe (Georgy Girl/ The Producers), Katrina Retallick (The Addams Family/STC Wharf Review), Kirby Burgess (Dirty Dancing / Love Bites) and Adam Rennie (returning home from his many American accolades to take up the role of Will) to a new breed of passionate theatre makers, who have all taken on the spirit of adventure inherent in the play and all are up for the challenge of creating both the world of Edward Bloom’s imagination and the reality of the family that live outside it.
