Six The Musical is taking the world by storm. Part pop concert and part musical, the show tells the stories of Henry VIII’s wives, and sides of the story that most are not familiar with.
Ahead of the show’s opening, I’m asking SIX questions to all SIX queens.
Today’s queen is Chloé Zuel, who is playing Catherine of Aragon. Chloé was most recently seen as Anita in the Australian Tour of West Side Story and as Sarah in Ragtime (The Production Company). Other credits include Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Reno in Dusty (The Production Company), Dynamite in Hairspray the Musical, and Pilar in Legally Blonde The Musical.
I’ve been dancing since I was 4 and I did my first musical in Australia in 2010 which was Hairspray. I grew up wanting to be a pop star (didn’t we all?!) and so I think SIX is going to be little Chloé’s dream come true.
I’m excited to tell these women’s stories with a bunch of kick ass performers. It’s going to be so cool to have that much girl power in one room and I love that it’s all told in a pop concert setting. It’s going to be so fun!
I think of Catherine of Aragon as a fearless warrior queen who stood firm in what she believed was right. I can’t say that I’m fearless but it’s something I strive towards and am inspired by.
This is becoming a tricky one to answer these days with social media but maybe the fact that I lived in Japan for two years.
Well, the stories of King Henry VIII are just fascinating and when you tell them in such a palatable way like a big pop concert, it’s pretty easy to fall in love with… It’s basically a two in one, educational and a good time!
To be honest, not a lot. I knew he had 6 wives and that he beheaded lots of people but unfortunately my knowledge didn’t stretch much further than that. This show has taught me so much already and now I’m hooked on learning even more. Lots of people have said the show has taught them more than studying Henry VIII at school did!
Six The Musical opens at the Sydney Opera House in January, before touring to Melbourne and Adelaide.
