Photo Feature: Cry Baby at the Hayes Theatre

“It’s 1954. Everyone likes Ike, nobody likes communism and Wade “Cry-Baby” Walker is the coolest boy in Baltimore.” With their first preview now in the bag; David Hooley popped in earlier on Friday to photograph the media call for the latest offering at the Hayes Theatre: Cry-Baby.

Based on the cult-classic 1990 John Waters film, Cry-Baby will star Christian Charisiou as Wade “Cry-Baby” Walker, with Ashleigh Rubenach playing fellow star crossed lover and square rich girl Allison. Other principle cast are Laura Murphy (Muriel’s Wedding, Grease), Joel Granger (Brigadoon, Dogfight), Beth Daly (Grey Gardens, Fiddler on the Roof), Alfie Gledhill (Griffin’s Replay), Manon Gunderson-Briggs (Muriel’s Wedding), Bronte Florian (Kinky Boots, High Fidelity), and Amy Hack (Romeo and Juliet).

With energy, colour and rock-and-roll a plenty, this show looks to be a fun night for all.

Cry-Baby is playing now at the Hayes Theatre.  Tickets at www.hayestheatre.com.au.
