MICF: Three Silly Stories

I’m no 6 year old but you would’ve had to be blind not to notice how much fun the kids were having at Three Silly Stories presented by Angus and Jessikah of The Flying Bookwork Theatre Company.

Early on Saturday afternoon we heard the stories Mulga Bill, The Cap Seller and the classic Three Little Pigs. Jessikah and Angus have an infectious energy that perks up kids and adults alike and do a great job of encouraging the kids who go up on stage to get involved. What’s more, there are two sets of stories running, so if you find your kids enjoyed it once it’s certainly worth a second visit.

Running on weekends and throughout the school holidays, Flying Bookworm are certainly aware of their niche and are making themselves as available as possible to spread their stories to kids throughout the festival.

As a member of the audience without kids, I felt incredibly awkward and didn’t find it particularly engaging. The show lacks that difficult-to-find ability to engage not just kids but their parents too. But who cares, the kids had a ball and the inclusion of a classic Banjo Paterson tale was a wonderful nod to the great Australian storytellers.
